Could this be the end of 3D Touch? This feature introduced by Apple in 2015 on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus could be flawed on the iPhone 2019. This is in any case what indicates Digitimes quoting sources close to the production line. But the Chinese media is not the only one to reach this conclusion. Last May, MacRumors had already said the same thing.

3D Touch: Not popular enough to be integrated on the iPhone 2019?

As a reminder, 3D Touch is an integrated pressure sensor under the screen that provides access to additional information such as shortcuts, quick actions or previews by exerting a little more pressure on some icons. But the interest of users (and developers) for this mode of interaction has never reached peaks... which could push Apple to remove this technology.

iOS 13 also offers a similar system with "long support" that has the merit of being compatible with all devices and is certainly easier to integrate for developers. 3D Touch has never been compatible with the iPad.

In passing, Digitimes took the opportunity to indicate that Apple would negotiate a trade agreement with the Chinese manufacturer BOE to provide OLED tiles. A way to reduce its dependence on Samsung, which is until now the only supplier. It may also mean that Apple is anticipating more production, perhaps for other models in the lineup?
