Microsoft has decided to end the Skype feature that allows sending and receiving SMS and has announced it to users via a message. The publisher now advises users to use the Your Windows 10 Integrated Phone app.
A year ago Microsoft unveiled a few days ago features to synchronize SMS from a phone with computers. One used an application built into Windows 10, the other the Skype software for PC and Mac. This last solution will finally be abandoned in favor of the first as users have discovered in a message and on a support page .
The date fixed for the cessation of this service was fixed on August 30th. Skype has not mentioned any reason to justify this decision but encourages users to use instead the application "Your phone" integrated in Windows 10, which also allows to synchronize SMS. On the other hand, no alternative is offered for Skype users under other operating systems such as Mac or Linux.
The application "Your phone" Windows 10 can send and receive SMS directly to your PC or recover photos from your smartphone provided you have linked the phone in the settings . The feature is only available with Android phones through the "Assistant your phone" application. Recently it is also possible to manage Android notifications directly from your computer.
