The facial hair removal is a fairly large demand from young men.

They most often want a hair removal eyebrows and especially cheeks, but not only. Explanations of Dr. Catherine de Goursac *, aesthetic doctor.

What are the main demands of men for laser hair removal?

Dr. Catherine de Goursac: Some men have very wide eyebrows, touching and forming a bar on their eyebrows. Permanent laser hair removal limits the size of both eyebrows and separates them.

The removal of hair on the nose is also an important demand, as well as intra-nasal hair. But the most common is the hair removal of the cheeks.

Indeed, Latino and Mediterranean men are numerous to have a hair that goes up very high, until under the lower eyelid. At first, it is a simple down that they try to eliminate by shaving. But the more you shave, the more you strengthen these small hairs, until you get a strong hair on the cheeks. By permanently removing small hairs placed too high thanks to laser hair removal , we redraw the cheek by lowering the beard where it should be.

After a facelift also, it is often necessary to restore a free space of any hair between the outer part of the cheek and the ear.

The hair removal of the neck is also requested, or more exactly the area between the neck and the ear which is considered more aesthetic without hair. Some people have hair on the forehead that they want to get rid of.

Finally, the hair of the ears, inside but also outside, on the contour of the ear and on the lobe, are undesirable. The hairiness of the nose is also unsightly, not only that of the nostrils but also that which can be located on the nasal crest.

What about the beard? Is it a frequent request for permanent hair removal?

Dr. Catherine de Goursac: Applications are rare. In fact many men want to keep a beard, but the vast majority want to redraw. Then, the protocol to remove the beard by laser hair removal is very particular, imposing a fairly long and expensive investment. Finally, the sessions are painful.

The men who resort to the hair removal of the beard are therefore rather those who do not support shaving, for example by allergy, or some homosexuals.

The vast majority want a clean and well-drawn beard, no beard at all.

How are the laser hair removal sessions held?

Dr. Catherine de Goursac: For men whose hair system is undeveloped, laser hair removal of the forehead, cheekbones, the neck, the crest of the nose and the outer part of the ear requires few sessions. On the other hand, they must be close enough. On average, 3 to 4 sessions, spaced each 3 weeks give a very good result on areas with little hair. Attention areas that have been stimulated by a regular shave will require more sessions, because of a larger number of hairs, which have also become more resistant.

For much denser areas, such as the intervertebral, the space ear cheekbones following a facelift, the interior of the ear or nose, a higher number of sessions will be necessary. It takes between 4 and 6 sessions, rarely 8 sessions, spaced 15 days to 3 weeks.

The beard is an exception. The treatment is particularly long. It must be repeated weekly at the beginning, then every 15 days, and for many months.

Again, most often men do not want to treat their entire beard but only down one or two centimeters, it is considered too spread.

Finally, it should be known that the laser hair removal of low hair areas is not painful. But the pain increases with the hair density, it becomes for the beard in particular. This is why we apply an anesthetic cream before hair removal sessions of the beard.
