4 foods not to eat when you want to lose weight:
Pilaf rice
To cook the rice way "pilaf", it is a must. What's more appetizing than watching the grains swell as you add water or broth? What to salivate. And yet... this way of cooking tends to swell the belly at the end of the meal.
Rice is rich in starch and the rest if not rinsed. Cooking with excess water allows to evacuate some of this complex carbohydrate. When you opt for pilaf baking, you take a risk: to keep a lot of starch in your dish.
Result: you consume a lot of carbohydrates, and you risk more constipated. "When the transit is slowed, it is impossible to have a flat stomach," recalls Marie-Laure André, author of My Cahier stop au sucre (Solar) to our colleagues at Medisite.
It is therefore better to prefer cooking to Creole, recommends this dietician. If the goal is to lose belly, it is better to be content with a plain rice with little fat in addition - like a broth loaded with salts and fats.
Cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower...
Some foods are known to balloon. This is the case of different varieties of cabbage and other cruciferous. Broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts should be tasted in moderation.
" Foods that tend to ferment, thus creating gas in the intestines, are the number one enemy of the flat stomach," notes Marie-Laure André. Even watching your caloric intake, you risk keeping a slightly bounced abdomen.
A recipe can avoid these inconveniences: the soup. By mixing the crucifers, you break the fibers that irritate your intestines and cause bloating. What to reconcile with this dish!
Flageoles, beans and other legumes
Legumes are often recommended to replace traditional starchy foods (pasta, potatoes, etc.). And they are, indeed, excellent for health. But beans, beans and chickpeas can also sensitize the demanding intestines. Provoking, in passing, troublesome gas.
To limit these unwanted effects, it is important to soak the legumes well before cooking them. Adding a teaspoon of baking soda at the time of cooking also limits bloating. The addition of acidic foods - such as a lemon - at the end of preparation can also be interesting, as is the addition of spices in the dish.
Onion, garlic, leek...
Leeks, onions and garlic contain sulfur compounds - these famous substances that make us cry when we cook them. But these compounds also tend to cause bloating, especially if the food is eaten raw. In addition, these foods combine sugar, sulfur and fiber... an explosive cocktail.
"It's also a story of personal sensitivity: some people digest them very well, while they systematically inflate other individuals," says Marie-Laure André. If you suffer from bloating, you can perform tests for a week, eliminating all suspects.
If your belly deflates, you may be among the sensitive people. In this case, it is better to limit the consumption of foods that favor digestive discomfort.
