Microsoft Schedules End of Remix3D.com Service. The service that allowed sharing, sending online or retrieving 3D content models will close next year, said Microsoft.
Two years ago, when Windows 10 Creators Update arrived , the Remix3D service was introduced to the general public. The 3D content sharing community will finally close its doors next year and Microsoft is pointing to other solutions.
In the FAQ dedicated to Remix3D Microsoft describes how the withdrawal of the service. It will take place on January 20, 2020 to allow users time to transfer their content to other storage and file sharing platforms. And to prevent users from missing the information sending files on the platform will be disabled as of August 7 next.
Even without the possibility to send templates, users will still be able to log in to their account to retrieve their content but only from the site itself. Access to Remix3D via Paint 3D, 3D Builder, Photos, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook applications will be disabled. Microsoft said that this will not prevent to integrate 3D content in these applications, but more from the site Remix3D.
The publisher invites users to use other storage alternatives for their 3D content, citing of course OneDrive, the online home hosting service. On the other hand 3D object models created by Microsoft will continue to be offered in Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
