Watch OS 6 and iOS 13 provide several compelling features that complement the experience and enhance the use of the Apple Watch. The trend function provides a broader picture of physical activity practiced.

Trends: a long-term vision of its activity

Until now the Watch application was mostly used to look at the three activity rings, now progress charts give a more consistent perspective. Unfortunately, these trends will not appear on the Apple Watch. It will have to go through the application available on his phone under iOS 13. Apple also needs 365 days of previous use (may be non-consecutive) before trends start to appear on the application. Indeed, this function must examine the statistics of the last 90 days and compare them to the last 365 days.

It is not clear how Apple will apply these trends; the idea would be to set up coaching in the form of tips and advice. What exact form will it take (a notification? A weekly summary?) We do not know yet.

Highlights: bring out important news

The Apple Health app for iOS 13 will reveal a set of data and help build a more complete record. Apple's goal is to present important facts using machine learning, with a focus on categories that may have added data. For example, say that you have taken your blood pressure several times or have weighed yourself regularly. These data should be used to illustrate your condition change.

Soon a smart life coach?

Apple's focus on health and fitness data suggests more coaching and guidance in the future, but in iOS 13 it's more of a first step. The fact that not all info is available on the Apple Watch is a huge drag. However, we can imagine that in the coming years, Apple pushes the concept of health and sports coach further. With links between weight, sleep, activity, time at work, blood pressure, etc.
