Mahindra XUV700 luxury SUV launch date revealed: The Mahindra XUV700 luxury SUV will be launched in India on October 9, 2018. Codenamed the Y400, the SUV is a converted version of the Ssangyong Rexton G4. While Mahindra is yet to finalize the brand name of this SUV, the XUV700 moniker has stuck since its announcement for the Indian market.

The SUV will take over the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor, Isuzu MU-X, and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Considering that Mahindra is the newest vendor in this segment, it is likely to rate the XUV700 competitive as it needs a good proposal to differentiate itself from its established competitors.
In other words, we expect the Mahindra XUV700 to undercut the competition on a large scale and sell it at about Rs. 25 lakhs, a good Rs. 2 lakhs cheaper than Fortuner / Endeavor. This price advantage could help the XUV700 be perceived by luxury SUV buyers.
To keep the price low, Mahindra is said to have located many parts of the SUV assembled at the automaker's Chakan factory via the kit route (completely demolished). While the price is likely to be lower than that of its competitors, the SUV will be comparable in terms of size, engine performance and features to its rivals.
The XUV700 is powered by a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel with 187 hp-420 Nm. A 7-speed torque converter automatic transmission from Mercedes Benz is expected to be available as standard in all variants.

Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are offered, though the XUV700 will be more of a soft-roader than other SUVs in its segment. For sitting, seven seats will be dressed in leather. The Mahindra XUV700 will be one of the largest SUVs in its class with dimensions of 4,850 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, 1,825 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. In terms of features, the SUV gets projector headlights, a 9.2-inch touch-screen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree parking camera, 7.0-inch LCD instrument cluster, cooled front seats and an intelligent tailgate.
